About

Ganesh Chaturthi festival means modak, is it not? As a south Indian, I always make steamed modak (the kozhukattai version) with rice flour and a stuffing.

Just like there are many kozhukattai recipes, you can also choose from a lot of modak recipes.

There are various types available these days commercially. Everything can be prepared easily at home too.

What I love about these are, most of them are no steam version for Siddhivinayak. Main ingredient is mawa.

Depending on the variety, the other ingredients change.

Notes

  • The khoya was ½ cup after cooking, so I took ¼ cup sugar. Keep this as guidance.
  • Do not add more milk or else it will become too sticky.
  • In case it becomes sticky, add some milk powder.
  • If its sticky, you can keep in fridge for better handling.
  • You can use icing sugar, the quantity may slightly vary as it has corn starch in it.

You can find this in frozen section of mustafa just opposite to the paneer. It will be written as Khoya only. Let me know if you still could not find it in mustafa. You can ask the sales guys working there for help to spot it.
