David Laid is a fitness icon who is most known for his impressive transformation videos on youtube. Besides being a successful fitness model, he is a bodybuilder, powerlifter, and GymShark athlete.

Stats and Personal Information

Full Name: David Laid

Nationality: Estonian

Age: 21 years old (as of January 2020)

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 190 pounds

Waist Size: 27 inches

Arm Size: Estimated 18 inches

David Laid is the epitome of an aesthetic physique. One look at this guy is all it takes to know that he has top-tier genetics. It is the combination of David’s genetics and hard work that brought him so much fame.

His rise to stardom was fast and well-deserved. David is most known for his 14-17-year-old transformation video which has been viewed nearly 35 million times.

At the age of 17 David looks better than 97% of gym-goers. Not only are his genetics great for aesthetics and mass, but his previous hardships inspire him to push hard in the gym each day.

In interviews and his youtube videos, David Laid describes that he was always a lanky kid with an ectomorph body type. He faced a lot of adversity in his early life including being diagnosed with scoliosis and growing up without a father.

Unlike some people who would throw in the towel, David persevered. At the age of 21 years old, he is now an accomplished individual in the fitness community. Among many things, he is a bodybuilder, GymShark athlete, model, and powerlifter.

David claims that he took a lot of inspiration from YouTube videos. Quite fitting considering that he now has almost 1 million subscribers himself. Greg Plitt and Jeff Seid are among his biggest influences, two men with very successful careers in the fitness industry.

Nowadays, David contains to pump out content for social media, his sponsors, and YouTube. He also has his own website where he sells original workout programs. His aesthetic physique, highlighted by his insanely small waist, is definitely his strong suit.

Training Approach

It’s evident that David Laid trains with intensity. You can tell not only by watching his videos but also just by looking at his physique. David built mass at a fast rate at the beginning of his career so it’s evident that his workout routine was on point.

A great physique is almost always accompanied by a good program and strength. It’s no surprise, therefore, that David has both of these boxes checked off.

At a height of 6’2” and weighing less than 200 lbs, the deadlift is David’s best lift. Pretty surprising if you ask me, considering the fact that taller people are generally weaker in the deadlift. There are videos of David pulling 675 pounds, and not to mention 500 pounds at age 17. Absolutely ridiculous.

I am not going to give you his complete workout routine, but by watching his videos you get a pretty good idea as to how he trains. David favors the compound lifts (bench, deadlift, squat) followed by several accessory movements. He mainly sticks to a PPL split and trains 6 days each week.

For a more accurate and detailed account of David Laid’s routine, you can buy one of his programs. The programs he sells are pretty much exactly what he does himself.

Nutrition and Supplements

David weighed less than 100 pounds at age 14, so it’s no surprise that he often talks about his struggles with eating. He is the prime example of an ectomorph body-type, so it’s hard to put on mass, to begin with.

After plateauing several times in the gym, David realized he was not eating enough to reach his goals. He continually struggled with a lack of appetite, but quickly reversed his plateaus after identifying calorie-dense foods.

In terms of food choices, David eats whatever he wants as long as it fits his macros. IIFYM is a great way to track your caloric intake if you’re a hard-gainer or prone to weight gain.

A solid nutrition plan is a huge piece of the puzzle, but David Laid also takes several supplements too. In his videos, it’s apparent that he takes whey protein, creatine, a multivitamin, and pre-workout regularly.

Regarding his own products, David recently came out with Euphoria pre-workout. The pre-workout combines oxiracetam, caffeine, A-GPC, and dynamine.

Genetic Potential and Waist Size

One thing that I will touch on a lot in this article is David Laid’s genetics. There is no doubt that he has top 1% genetics for aesthetics and training response. In terms of aesthetics for both bodybuilders and fitness models, a key aspect is a small waist.

As you can tell by looking at David, his waist is freakishly small. His waist is between 27-28 inches which is almost the size of his quads. Most men will not have that small of a waist, especially with the caliber v-taper that Laid has.

Truth be told genetics are key. I mean come on- you can definitely tell that David had a very small midsection from day one, and this was not subject to change much.

David’s rapid muscle growth in his teen years has led many people to claim he’s not natty. He certainly used PEDs at some point, but that doesn’t change the fact that his genetics are elite.

Steroid Accusations

If you’re familiar at all with famous fitness YouTubers, then you probably know about David’s status as a fake natty. Although he never really blew up like a balloon, his rapid muscular development and strength progression is suspicious.

There’s good reason to believe that David Laid is on steroids because he is shredded year-round and has ridiculous strength for being so lean. Considering that David was benching 500 pounds at 17 years old, it’s likely that he started juicing at a young age.

Interestingly enough, the age of 17 was also when David really started to add muscle mass and improve his physique. By 19, it was pretty clear that his physique was not obtainable naturally with the amount of training he had.

It’s impossible to say whether David Laid is actually on steroids because he is not open about his use. However, when you place all the pieces together it seems highly unlikely that he is natural. You can take a look at his transformation photos below and decide for yourself.

Although there’s a good chance he’s on steroids, you cannot discredit David’s genetics and work ethic. Even without anabolics, he would likely have a better physique than most people. It also goes without saying that he is extremely strong for his size, with or without PEDs.

Present Day

As of right now, David continues to impress millions of people worldwide with his physique. He has a huge following on both Instagram and YouTube. David continues to train hard on a regular basis, and he has plenty of good reasons to do so.

Not only is David a successful social media influencer, but he recently broke into the supplement industry. This is a great business venture for him considering that social media is not necessarily stable. I should also add that his pre-workout has a good balance of ingredients, so that’s always nice to see.

It is crazy to think that David Laid is still very young and has not reached his full potential. I’m sure that he will become even more popular and likely put on more size. Although, given his career as a fitness model, it’s hard to say how much more mass he will put on.

David grew up in New Jersey, and he frequently still trains at several gyms there. He often trains with Dylan McKenna, another YouTube fitness icon. Based on his career choice, David likely travels a lot to keep up with demands.

Closing Remarks

From a motivational standpoint, anyone can learn a lot from David Laid. He is a prime example of someone who started out with nothing and made the most out of it. No one can deny that this guy trains hard and with consistency.

Whether or not David is on steroids should make no difference to you. Steroids can only do so much for your physique. It is the constant hours in the gym and a good nutrition plan that seal the deal.

I must reiterate again that David has great genetics for aesthetics. You might not have a 27-inch waist when you’re lean, but do not let that discourage you. Unfortunately, your genetics cannot be altered, and you have to make the most with what you’re given.

Remember that you have to start somewhere, just like David did when he was a lanky 14-year-old. Take inspiration from whomever you please, but make sure you act on that inspiration. The best time to take action is right now, and it’s never too late to get started on your fitness journey.

Whether you look up to David or just wanted to know more about him, I hope this article was helpful for you. It will be interesting to see how he progresses in the coming years.
